GATOTO LEADER AND ALUM TO VISIT IN OCTOBER
American Friends of Gatoto is delighted to announce that Gatoto head Betty Nyagoha is visiting the States in October. For the first time, she will be accompanied by a Gatoto alum, Josephine Mbaisi who will join Betty at evening events in Washington, New York, and Boston. An additional event will take place in the San Francisco area.
Josephine is thoughtful and charming. Her life story thus far is an inspiration and a powerful demonstration of Gatoto’s worth and potential. She graduated from Gatoto and went on to secondary school and to the University of Nairobi, where she earned two bachelor’s degrees. With the assistance of other Gatoto supporters, she obtained a position with a cellular telephone company in Kingston, Jamaica, where she currently lives and works. Her October trip to the US will be her first.

NEW AERIAL VIDEO OFFERS UNIQUE VIEW OF GATOTO
In January 2019, AFG captured aerial footage of Gatoto and its surrounding neighborhood. The images speak for themselves.
AFG TO BUILD TWO NEW GATOTO CLASSROOM BUILDINGS
After a thorough design process, AFG has settled on the layouts of two new classroom buildings to create additional classroom capacity and replace Gatoto’s badly deteriorated metal classroom buildings (built as “temporary classrooms” around 20 years ago).
The construction project will have two phases. The first phase will start in early November 2019, with the construction of the six classroom building. The second, eight classroom building will be constructed at a future date. Please see architectural renderings, below.
To learn more about this project, make a restricted donation, or discuss recognition and naming opportunities, please contact Peter Edwards (pedwards373@gmail.com).
GATOTO VISITORS WITNESS ITS POWER
Wayne and Tina Levenfeld and Stan and Ruth Litwin from California recently visited Gatoto. Like many before them, they were moved and amazed by what they saw. You can read Wayne’s thoughts here.
